South Bank is Brisbane’s arts precinct. A place where the creative achievers of the future are nurtured and where some of the greatest works from world leaders of creative industries can be found. Familiarise yourself with the great arts and creative industry facilities that Brisbane has to offer at South Bank. We list them here, in alphabetical order: Queensland Art Gallery – The Queensland Art Gallery houses a collection of more than 10,000 works of art including paintings, sculpture, prints, photography installations and videos. Free entry except to special exhibitions. Queensland College of Art Griffith University – The College has produced some of Australia’s leading artists, designers, animators, photographers and filmmakers. 226 Grey Street, South Bank. Free entry. Queensland Conservatorium Griffith University – guides and inspires talented young musicians for a professional career in music. The Conservatorium also has a program of regular concerts, open to the public. Queensland Gallery of Modern Art – is situated in a stunning building next to the State Library. The Gallery of Modern Art links to the Queensland Art Gallery and combined makes the second largest public art museum in Australia. Queensland Maritime Museum – displays antique maps, everything related to shipping and boating, plus you can walk aboard the HMAS Diamantina. Located near the south end of the Goodwill Bridge. Queensland Museum – is an important source of education, entertainment and research for preserving Queensland’s social, technological and natural history. Free entry, except to special exhibitions. Queensland Performing Arts Centre – is a world-class facility offering unrivalled venue choice, services and facilities for musicals, plays, ballets, operas and concerts. Queensland Theatre Company (QTC) – is the centre of theatre in Queensland. Exciting, inspiring, the QTC brings the best local and international plays to Queensland. Its performance venue is the Bille Brown Studio. Riverfestival Pty Ltd– South Bank is home to the festival that celebrates Brisbane as the River City – Riverfestival. The annual festival is held each September and includes fireworks, music, an environmental symposium, feasts and more. Sciencentre – See, touch and feel science in action. Great fun and good learning. State Library of Queensland – Queensland’s leading public reference and research library, the State Library supports a network of 326 sites for a state-wide platform for life-long learning.
